Born and raised in West Virginia, he picked up the fiddle at age four and built a loyal following through his energetic performances—amassing over 1.5 million fans and followers online. His viral success led to a win on TikTok’s Greatest Talent competition, and he’s since graced stages like The Bluebird Café, 3rd & Lindsley, and NPR’s Mountain Stage – with a potential return planned for 2025.
2023 was a breakout year for Bowen. He released his debut album Old Kanawha, earned a spotlight at Americanafest, reached the semifinals of America’s Got Talent (Season 18) and shared stages with artists like Darius Rucker, 49 Winchester, Wyatt Flores, Ian Munsick, Charles Wesley Godwin, and Josiah and the Bonnevilles. His blend of heart, roots, and soul has resonated widely with fans and critics alike.
An accomplished session player with hundreds of credits, Bowen has worked with a wide range of artists including Noah Kahan, Zandi Holup, Sam Barber, and Jenna Paulette among others. He’s been praised by Rolling Stone, American Songwriter, Whiskey Riff, and others, and featured on Ross Golan’s “And the demo is….”
On October 10, 2025, Philip releases his sophomore album Appalachia Forever, featuring collaborations with Charles Wesley Godwin, Madison Hughes, Josiah and the Bonnevilles, Leon Majcen, and Julia DiGrazia. He’ll support the release with his first headlining tour beginning in August and continuing throughout the fall.
